TO DETERMINE THE KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTISE OF FEMALE STUDENTS ABOUT BREAST CANCER AND BREAST SELF EXAMINATION

Introduction:

This study’s aimed to determine the breast cancer and their practice about breast self examination state dormitory girl student in Bolu.

Materials and Methods:

This was a cross-sectional and descriptive study. The research was carried on 240 girl student.

Results:

Socio-demographic features of the study group were; mean age of the student who were 20 years old and above was 21±0.08 (min:20;max:25), 100% were single. The students were 95.8 %studying in departments apart from health. To determined girl students were perceiving their health as good, 14.6% use smoke cigarette, 18.3% drink alcohol. We found 92.5% of the girl students were know the breast self examination (BSE) and were practise, 80.3% of the girl students didn’t know the breast self examination and who didn’t practise breast self examination (X2:120.785; P:0.000) (Tablo 3).

Discussion:

Consequently, altough the big majörity of female university students have heard about BSE, their behaviors of doing BSE are not enough. Training programms should be for university students for BSE and KKMM, especially studying in departments apart from health.
